Welcome to KUFI Farm.org, the home page of the Kenosha Urban Farm Institute. You’ve likely heard of urban farming, but what makes us an *Institute*? It’s our commitment to research. We don’t just grow food—we innovate solutions for the toughest challenges in agriculture today. From combating famine and blight to adapting to local climate shifts, we’re on a mission to build a more resilient food system for all.
Cultivating Resilient Food For Our Future
Collaborative Research with Global Impact
We don’t solve problems in isolation. Our Research Groups bring together farmers, government leaders, scientists, and experts from diverse fields. Together, we share insights, drive innovation, and create sustainable change in our community & across the globe.
growing to feed more than just our bellies
vision
We envision a world where everyone has the knowledge, access, and resources to support their health and well-being with fresh, diverse, locally grown foods. We believe in farming practices that nurture both people and the planet, ensuring a healthy ecosystem for generations to come.
mission
To lead the way in sustainable farming, we’re expanding the use of regenerative methods, deepening understanding of food’s healing potential, and fostering a connection to the Earth’s natural balance. Our goal? Healthier lives, stronger communities, and a resilient food chain that can withstand any challenge.
purpose
Biodiversity is the key to thriving ecosystems, and it’s at the heart of everything we do. Through regenerative agriculture, we aim to restore the natural connections that support a healthy, balanced environment—because when nature thrives, so do we.

Advancing “Dry” Farming
One of the reasons our work is so important for the future is a key practice we use in our growing method to grow more resilient plants. It’s actually more about what we don’t use in growing our plants.
We’re a dry-farm. What’s that mean? Rain is the only water our plants get. No irrigation. As the climate changes, water scarcity is growing. That means we need to develop growing techniques and plants that can provide food without relying on irrigation.

Your Support Means Everything
Our future vision extends beyond farming. KUFI aims to lead community discussions about the potential of a Blue Zone certification program, exploring how it could enhance public health, safety, and upward mobility in Kenosha. Could we increase longevity, reduce healthcare costs, and foster stronger connections? If the answer is yes, KUFI Farm.org aspires to play a key role in this transformation.
